Pulp, paper and wood panels have high exports

Pulp production grew 3% in the first quarter of 2017, totaling 4,690,000 tons against 4,550,000 tons recorded in the same period last year. In the paper sector, the positive balance continues with exports that reached a volume of 544,000 tons sold between January and March, up 5.6% compared to the same period in 2016, when they traded 515,000 tons. Export revenues – from January to March 2017, the sector recorded exports worth US $ $1.9 billion (-2.6%); the pulp reached US $1.4 billion (-4.3%), $ $464,000,000 (-0.2%) and $ $64,000,000 wood panels (+ 25.5%). As a result the industry trade balance recorded a surplus of $ $1.7 billion in the first three months of the year (-0.9%). Destination of exports-China remains the main destination of Brazilian pulp sector with 44% share.
