LONDON-the Organization of petroleum exporting countries (Opec) wants the oil production cuts agreement is the starting point for a new era of cooperation in industry, said the cartel''s Secretary General, Mohammad Barkindo, who also downplayed fears about the effect of high inventories and production in the United States about the prices. In the case of Russia, Barkindo said the country has created your own structure to monitor the fall of extraction. The Secretary-General of Opec also pondered that the sharp drop of investment in exploration and production of oil needs to be stopped to avoid a high prices. According to estimates of the organisation, the commodity still respond by 26% of the global energy supply until 2040, the equivalent of 110 million barrels per day. In relation to the production of shale in the United States, Barkindo said it''s too early to know if she can really threaten the OPEC''s attempt to rebalance the market, once the North American production comes from a low level and should be absorbed with high demand. On the other hand, he also downplayed fears that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, can act against the cartel''s oil import, stating that the interests of American industry and OPEC are aligned. The leader also said that OPEC and other countries participating in the November agreement will take into account the levels of stocks of the commodity when deciding on an extension of the cuts.
