Activity level of the construction industry back to fall in may, says NIC

BRASILIA-the level of activity in the construction industry is still falling, but at a lesser pace, according to a survey published on Tuesday, 27, the National Confederation of industry (CNI). The indicator which measures the activity was in 44.1 points in may, compared to 43.3 points from April to 40.1 points in May last year. In 2017, the indicator accumulates high of 6.2 points. Over the same period last year, however, the projections showed improvement. The expectation for the level of activity fell again under 50 points to 49.7 points in June. The index was at 50.5 points in May and 44.6 points in June last year. The projection for the intention of investments also worsened, rising from 28.5 points in May to 27.2 points in June. The indicator was at 26.9 points in June 2016. The forecast for the number of employees remained practically stable: was 48.2 points in May and went for 48 points this month. In June last year was at 42.3 points. For the purchase of raw materials, the expectation grew from 48.5 points in May to 48.3 points in June and was at 42.5 points a year ago. To new ventures and services the indicator was at 42.1 points in June 2016, rose to 49.1 points last month and fell again to 48.8 points this month. CNI''s research was done with 604 companies in the construction sector between 1 and 12 June.
