Ethanol/gasoline ratio in SP advances 72.38% in first week

The relationship between ethanol and prices of gasoline in the city of São Paulo had marginal acceleration between the end of January and the first week of February, from 72.12% to 72.38%, according to the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe). "Almost got sidelined," says the Fipe Economist Andrew Charlton. For experts, the use of ethanol ceases to be advantageous when the price of the derivative of sugar cane represents more than 70% of the value of the gas. The advantage is calculated considering that the calorific value of ethanol is 70% of the power of the fossil fuel. With the relationship between 70% and 70.5%, is considered indifferent use of gasoline or ethanol in the tank. Although the brand be running above 70%, Charlton points out that this metric may not necessarily be adopted as standard for all vehicles. "It's more a question of engineering. Some vehicles may have better performance even with the relationship between the fuels above 70% ", he ponders. In another survey of Fipe, on the first February quadrissemana (last 30 days ending on day 7), the variation of ethanol was positive in 2.40% (2.86%), while that of gasoline was 1.56% (2.19%). With this, the Transport Group in the consumer price index (CPI), which measures the rate of inflation in the State capital, was 1.72% (1.63%). The IPC, for your time, was 0.25% after 0.46% at the end of January.
