Vehicle production rises 6.2% in February, points Anfavea

The vehicle production in Brazil grew 6.2% in February compared with the same month last year, to 213,400 units, reported on Tuesday, 6, the National Association of Automotive vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea). It is the largest production volume for the month since 2014. The survey considers cars, light commercials, trucks and buses. The result, however, compared to January, represents 2.1% fall. With that, the sector builds up in the first quarter, the production of vehicles, expansion of 431,600 15% as compared to the same period in 2017. By segment, cars and light commercials, together totaling 203,600 units in February, 4.7% compared to February last year, but low of 2.8% compared to the previous month's volume. Year to date, the advance is 13.8%, to 413,000 units. Between the heavy trucks were 7700 produced last month, an increase of 46.2% compared to the same month of 2017 and expansion of 15.8% over the volume of January. In February, 1,470 jobs were generated by the sector in relation to the number of staff in January. Considering the last 12 months, the balance is 3,162 vacancies created. The industry currently has 130,421 employees, up 2.5 percent compared to February last year.
