Citrus: low rate of harvest and heated demand drive price of Tahiti

The values of the tahiti acid lime skyrocketed last week, according to data from the Cepea. According to employees, in addition to the low harvest rate, due to the greater length of stay (green) fruit trees, internal demand was heated, mostly due to the period of beginning of month. Thus, the average range from Monday to Thursday was of R $59,14/cx of 27 kg, harvested, high of 57.4% compared to the previous period. For the next few weeks, producers believe that the offer of tahiti remains low and keep prices steady. On the other hand, higher prices have limited shipments of fruit to the international market, due to competition with Mexico during this period.
