Drop in milk production in the second quarter

The Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE) announced on the day 12/9 the search results on a quarterly basis. The numbers relate to the volume of milk collected in the country in the second quarter of 2018 by establishments with some kind of inspection (municipal, State or federal). Between April and June this year were picked up 5.47 billion liters, 3.2% less than in the same period to 2017. Notice in Figure 1 that the capture of milk fell sharply in may, according to the truckers ' strike at the end of the month, which has damaged the milk collection and also the transport of supplies, affecting the curve of lactation cows. This year the production of milk in the country recorded an increase in all the months to April, compared with the same period last year. This scenario changed with the strike. In addition, the increase in the cost of production and the climate less favourable this year, for example, in the South of Brazil collaborated with this fall in production in the second quarter.
